Youth College Students Share Festive Warmth Through Elderly Care Visits

Yeo Chei Man

Ahead of the Lunar New Year, students from Youth College (Yau Chei Man), in collaboration with the Care Teams under the Sai Kung District Office, carried out community visits to elderly residents in the district. The visits aimed to extend heartfelt care and Chinese New Year blessings, bringing warmth and goodwill to the community during the festive season.

On the day of the activity, the students were divided into groups and visited the homes of several elderly residents. They personally presented thoughtfully prepared festive gift bags and engaged the elders in warm and friendly conversations, listening to their life experiences and personal stories in a warm and touching atmosphere. The elderly residents expressed appreciation for the students’ visits, not only provided practical support, but also enabled them to genuinely experience the care, companionship, and solidarity of the community. Participating students also shared that the activity enhanced their understanding of community needs and reinforced their belief that caring for the elderly and neighbours, starting with those around them in daily life, is a fundamental step towards building a more caring and inclusive community.
