Objectives
- Work-integrated Learning (WIL) in DVE programmes aims to increase students’ industry exposure:
- To enrich students’ learning experiences so that they can appreciate the meaning link between college learning and their future profession;
- To involve industry partners in the process of learning, teaching or assessment so that students can be more aware of the attitude and desirable skills set required in the workplace.
Introduction
WIL could be carried out in specific forms of structured work-related learning experience. Industry partners from various industries are engaged throughout the implementation of WIL activitiesd or events including the design of learning outcomes, delivery and assessments. Through various WIL activities, students can better excel themselves to master the work-related skills.
Through an array of diversified trade activities, students could broaden the industry network and enrich their trade literacy with a view to forging a better career path.
Models for Implementation
WIL would be implemented through diversified approaches:
- Talks or workshops delivered by industry partners;
- Visits to companies or any available workplaces;
- Participation in skills competitions as participants or helpers;
- Assessments conducted by industry partners as appropriate;
- Workplace attachment or engagement in industry-based projects.
