Referral Notice

Preparation before Application

Since the potential applicants may not go to school or work for a long time, their life pattern may not be adjusted within short period of time to meet the class requirements. The referee is recommended to discuss the expected difficulties with the applicant beforehand, including time required to go to school, class arrangements, and campus rules so that they have sufficient psychological preparation.

Follow-up work during Interest Classes

In the past, some applicants did not fully realise the actual situation of their interested subjects/industries before class. Then, they lost interests very soon and lost their motivation to complete the courses. As such, applicants are required to choose two Interest Classes so that they can experience the actual class situation within the four days. The referrer should understand the applicant's study and life in the school in order to help them face the new learning environment and enhance their learning motivation.

Good performance in all Interest Classes is the requirement for progression to the Intensive Classes. So, referrals must remind the applicants to pay attention to their learning attitudes in class and attend all Interest Classes, otherwise it will directly affect their chance to progress to Intensive Class.

Referrer is suggested helping applicant integrate the experience right after the two Interest Classes to determine whether to further progress to the Intensive Classes, or assist them in selecting suitable subject for in Intensive Class.

Follow-up work during the Intensive Class

In view of the importance of class performance, learning attitude and attendance rate in further education and career, the referrer is expected to help motivate students attend all classes.  If the applicant is late, leave early, absent or has disciplinary problems, the student counsellor of VDPO will immediately contact the referrer, and the referrer is expected to follow up immediately with the applicant's situation and maintain close contact with the student counsellor.  Referrer is recommended to provide the mobile phone and fax number, as well as phone number of another back up contact person.  With a unique and important role for the applicants, referrers are welcome to contact the student counsellor to understand applicant's attendance rate and class performance.
