Youth College made its debut collaboration with Hongkong Land to take part in “HALLOWEEN IN CENTRAL”, Hong Kong's first citywide Halloween Cosplay Celebration, supported by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. On 24 and 31 October 2026, over 24 students and teaching staff from the Diploma of Vocational Education (Hairdressing), (Beauty Care) and (Image Design) Programmes, together with alumni currently studying at the Hong Kong Design Institute, showcased their creativity and professional expertise by designing striking Halloween makeup and hairstyling looks for parade performers along Chater Road. Their professional skills added a spectacular touch to the Halloween celebrations in Central.
Held from 17 to 31 October, "HALLOWEEN IN CENTRAL" transformed the heart of the city into a vibrant celebration of creativity, featuring themed light installations, live performances, family-friendly activities, cosplay experiences and street carnival celebrations. Spanning two iconic locations, including Statue Square Gardens (South) and Chater Road, the festival attracted large crowds of local residents and visitors, immersing them in a vibrant atmosphere filled with creativity and festive energy. The grand Halloween street celebration on 31 October became one of the festival’s key highlights.
Throughout the event, Youth College students applied the professional knowledge and creative thinking gained from their studies to develop distinctive Halloween-inspired looks for parade performers, showcasing their expertise in makeup artistry, hairstyling and image creation. Students and alumni were also given a valuable opportunity to collaborate with design students from the School of Fashion and Textiles of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, incorporating Halloween elements into wearable art creations. This cross-institutional partnership allowed them to present their creative talents at a major public event while broadening their industry exposure and practical experience. By incorporating Halloween-inspired elements into wearable art creations, participants gained hands-on experience in cross-disciplinary collaboration while broadening their creative and industry exposure.
Through participation in this large-scale community event, Youth College not only demonstrated the strengths and achievements of vocational and professional education and training (VPET), but also promoted the “Connecting through YC Stories” initiative, fostering stronger connections between alumni and current students. The collaboration showcased YC’s commitment to creativity, innovation, mentorship, while celebrating the enduring bonds within the YC community.
