Building upon the success of the campus-wide "AI MV Competition", the Student Committee of Youth College (Kwai Chung) extended its technology-for-good initiative beyond the campus and into the local community by organising the "Director, Action!" AI Workshop for residents and elderly members from CONCORDIA (Tsat Sing Kong).
The workshop introduced senior participants to generative AI tools and digital imagery aesthetics, offering them hands-on opportunities to explore the creative potential of digital technologies. Designed with an accessible and user-friendly approach, the workshop enabled participants with no prior experience to step into the role of "directors", and transform their cherished memories into personalised digital artworks. With the dedicated one-on-one support of student mentors, participants also created customised souvenir keychains featuring their AI-generated creations, allowing them to take home cherished and lasting memories.
Through this meaningful intergenerational initiative, students from Diploma of Vocational Education (Fashion) and (Electrical Engineering) Programmes applied their technical expertise and creative skills in a real-world setting, while strengthening their communication and community engagement abilities. By helping elderly participants navigate and embrace digital technologies, the students contributed to bridging the digital divide, promoting digital inclusion and fostering stronger community connections. The activity exemplified Youth College's commitment to nurturing students who are not only professionally competent but also socially responsible. By using technology as a bridge between generations, students shared warmth, care and positive energy with members of the community, demonstrating the spirit of community service and giving back to society.
