The 6th “THREAD OF CREATIVITY – Fashion Design Competition 2026”

The 6^th “THREAD OF CREATIVITY – Fashion Design Competition 2026” Fashion Show and Award Presentation Ceremony was successfully held at CENTRESTAGE in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 5 September 2026. The event was co-organised by Sham Shui Po District Office, sponsored by the Home Affairs Department and jointly organised by the Sham Shui Po District Youth Development and Civic Education Committee and the Asian New Generation Creativity Design Association.

This year's competition was themed “Virtual Star Show”, encouraging participants to push the boundaries of conventional fashion design by creating a distinctive virtual celebrity character and developing a collection of four outfits inspired by the character. The entries combined storytelling, role-playing, virtual technology and fashion aesthetics, showcasing the creativity and forward-thinking design vision of a new generation of designers.

This year's competition was highly competitive, with contestants demonstrating remarkable creativity and talent. The ten finalists were required to create a virtual celebrity character entirely from scratch, including the character's name, appearance, hairstyle, makeup design and personality profile. In addition, each finalist was required to produce two physical garments alongside two virtual fashion creations generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and presented in video format, extending their creative concepts beyond the runway and into the digital world.

Throughout the competition, participants received comprehensive support from professional mentors and AI technology specialists. Through workshops and in-depth idea exchanges, they transformed imaginative concepts into fashion creations that seamlessly blended technological innovation with fashion aesthetics, culminating in a spectacular fashion showcase on the grand finale stage.

The finalist collections were evaluated by a distinguished judging panel comprising prominent fashion industry leaders and renowned professionals, including Mr Kenneth Wong, Chairman of the Sham Shui Po District Youth Community Building Committee; Professor Dorian Ho, Founding Chairman of the Asian New Generation Creative Designers Association and acclaimed fashion designer; Mr Mountain Yam, renowned Hong Kong fashion designer; Ms Amanda Strang, celebrated Hong Kong model; Mr James Cheung, film art director and costume designer; and Mr Joe Wong, founder of a leading streetwear group.

Students from the Youth College Diploma of Vocational Education (Fashion) delivered outstanding performances in the competition and distinguished themselves among the ten finalists, capturing three major awards. FAN Hiu-kwan was awarded the Champion, HO Ming-chun received the Best Fit-to-theme Award, and LEE Wing-suen won the Best Marketability Award. These remarkable achievements fully demonstrate Youth College students' professional competence, innovative mindset and exceptional potential in fashion design.
